Personal Story of Courage, by Linda Fairbank.
Linda has a examplary christian faith and her passion is to help others in need. Linda volunteers once a week in a hospice, in her community.

On Saturday, December 21, 1991, I was living in Maryland, and finally left the man who I had been seeing on and off for several years. I sat in my tiny basement apartment alone and miserable. I had been living in the darkness of the world for 43 years at that point, and I was weary, downtrodden, and depressed. I put my head in my hands and said to the universe at large, “What is the meaning of life? Why do some people seem to be happy? Are they putting on an act? Am I supposed to go to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and jump off like some people do?”

When I looked up there were two figures behind a dark veil in front of the sliding glass doors. I said, “Is that two large people or four skinny people?” The one on the left turned his head and chuckled…then they were gone.

I knew that something had happened at that moment, and I thought I would make some comfort food, so as not to be depressed, and headed to the grocery store to buy chicken soup ingredients. As I was pulling out of the parking lot my car turned in the opposite direction from home, and a few miles later, I was in front of the Catholic Church. The sign in the front showed all the upcoming masses (it was Christmas Holy Week). I thought, “Why am I here? I have no intention of going to church.” Although I was born and raised catholic, I hadn’t been to church in 25 years. Then later that day at 5 p.m., I found myself sitting in the church pews.

I looked at Jesus hanging at the cross at the front altar, and it seemed He came right down and entered in my heart!

I continued to walk out this incredible new journey, and my life turned around completely. I then started attending an Evangelical Church where everyone was raising their hands and praising the Lord. I would begin telling everyone, ” I was radically saved!”

It has been a wonderful 32+years of knowing the Lord as my personal Savior, and I love to share my story. I pray that everyone who reads or hears this testimony will know that God has shown himself to me, in a mighty way! I thank Him that He dispatched his angels to guide me to salvation that bleak December day, and I was forever changed to know his love, joy, and peace.
